Our Skydiving centre is located in the historic town of York just 97 km from Perth's CBD, away from the congested skies and urban sprawl of the city. With only half the rainfall Perth receives, the farmlands of the Avon Valley provide an excellent place to skydive.

  • At York turn left at Avon Terrace (the main street) and pass through town as the road follows the river around to the right.

  • 2.3 km from Great Southern Hwy, take the right branch as the road changes into Spencers Brook Road.

  • Follow Spencers Brook Road through a 'S' bend over the railway line and just under 10 km from Great Southern Hwy, turn right into the entrance road and immediately after crossing the railway line right again through the gate of the Drop Zone.

  • If you get to Burges Siding Road you have gone to far.

  • Park your car where indicated and check into manifest (at the front of the building)

Places of Interest

  • Motor Museum - over 200 classic and vintage cars, motorcycles and horse drawn vehicles.

  • Avon Ascent - Gwambygine Park - tranquil bush setting overlooking Avon River, Mt Brown Lookout, 342m 1,100 ft above sea level with 360º views.

  • Courthouse Goal Museum National Trust and Buildings date from the 1840s & include two courtrooms, police station, troopers cottage, gaol cells and stable yard. The complex is open to the public for a small admission fee. Open 10am - 4pm 7 days.

  • Mundaring Weir is a short detour along the way.

  • Swing Bridge The first temporary bridge over the Avon was built by convicts around 1853. The bridge has been rebuilt from time to time and was finally reconstructed in 1988.

According to the National Trust The original swing bridge, built in 1889, at this location was completely rebuilt to a modified design in 1988 due to safety concerns.

While the new bridge remains an interesting element in the York precinct landscape it is not an accurate reconstruction and does not meet the Criteria for the Register of the National Estate in its own right.

  • York Residency Museum Convicts, ceramics and Chinese market gardeners - just a few of the fascinating themes revealed at the Residency Museum, originally part of York's Convict Hiring Depot. See our amazing collections and find out why people say: "So much atmosphere" "Fabulous bush Australiana" Open 1pm-3pm Tue, Wed, Thur. 11am-3.30pm weekends

In Touch with Nature

  • Gwambygine Park is on one of the few remaining permanent pools of the Avon River, just 11 kms south of York. Gas barbecues and entry are free courtesy of the Shire of York.
